Default GS3 paint chips touch up

My DPW GS300 has bad skin. There are a lot of paint chips on the front hood and one on the passenger side.

I was thinking of taking it into Germain Lexus of Easton for a touch up job, they said they have someone come by on Tuesdays and Thursdays. My only concerns are how good of a job they will do and if it's worth the cash ($180 - "Full Touch Up").

My other option was to just purchase the touch up paint myself for about 23 bucks, and have the person that's going to detail my car do it for me, hoping he can do better than my DIY job.

What have been some of your experiences with dealership touch up jobs?

If you are going to use touch-up paint, look at Langka. It works pretty well if the chips aren't too big. Otherwise, the best (albeit priciest) alternative would be to repaint and apply a clear bra.

Well I work at a dealership we have a company that does that kind of stuff. They do a pretty good job most of the time. If you could do it yourself and doesn't come out the way you expect it. Take it to them. They should take out most of the scratches and detail it buff out some of them. I don't know just what I think.

The problem with your color is that the touch up paint comes in two seprate bottles and you have have to get just enough of each to match the paint, assuming this company uses a pen type sprayer it will probably look better that way, all depends on how you are willing to spend on a temporary fix, good luck.

from previous experience touch up paint is just a minor fix... eventually you will have to live with the rockchips or repaint

touching up on a pearl white car is car is really hard. i would ask for reference for past cars they have done.

i would say, spraying the whole hood is a better option.

thats the same thing that the body shop told me. I have ton's of chips! The guy said that if I just touched them up they are likely to come back faster because the paint would easily chip again.

How much would that cost with a clear bra? Would this make the rest of the car look older as the hood would look newer?

about 500 to 700 bucks i say.

it's just to protect the paint from chips and such, so it wouldn't make the rest looks older, unless you scratches those parts like crazy
