After reading about chroming out the front grill using Asitone I thought good idea and I love free mods

To make a very long story short.....

After rubing the slits with asitone I was in it about three hours. Looked good. But I noticed that some of the asitone had leaked on the sides and front and started to remove the black. I wanted it perfect so I started to remove ALL the black.

This took me three more hours that night, 10 hours the next day and 5 more hours the day after that. Went through 4 bottles of 8oz asitone, 6 shirts, one toothbrush and some blistering fingers........Yes I spent over 16 hours on this grill... Looks great but DAMN that was a long time!
Im sure there was a better solution to use but i knew the asitone worked and didn't damage the chrome......

Be careful w/the acetone on your grills. My 2001 grill is chromed plastic, not metal, the acetone may take off the chrome finish.

The paint stripper- The kind that you paste on, wait, and then remove works much faster and it does not run. The best thing I can think of to use on the grill.

I would have saved all of you hours of time!!!!!I wrote a reply to the first thread concerning this topic and it was deleted!! All you need to do is go to any auto repair place and ask them if they have a bucket of carb cleaner. I recomend not dunking it for more than 1 minute but the paint falls off and is perfected with a toothbrush. 20 minutes at most..... Hope this doesn't get deleted too!!
