I just finish my second DIY project... Thanks to Y2kGS4 for his helpful instruction on the ECU 101. It was exactly what he said...

I only have to spend $125 to purchase the ECU from toysport.com. My freaking dealer told me its 1.5 labor hour at $80/hr (Bull ****) It only took me 35 minutes to install the ECU. I save myself 120 for purchase parts on my next project.

The rest of the story will be ECU101. I am looking forward to my third project... STB and LCB.

You can call Mario at Toysport to find out if there is an ECU for GS3.

Hubbard,

The ECU he is referring to is the L-Tuned Steering ECU. This would work on ALL GS300 and GS400's from 98+, though it is questionable whether it is necessary on 2001+ GS430s, which already have an upgraded ECU.

I have the ECU on my car too and I love it. I think Bitkahuna said it best when he said the steering change was "subtle but noticable."

The install is a definite DIYer.

You can contact Steve @ Carson Toyota for the part, he sells it for $120-125 too. PM SUPRATRD

Here is another trick that can save a lot of time as well as you need not disassemble parts.

If you shine a light through the gap under the parking brake release .. right above the key-receptacle for trunk release (valet lock out) .. you can spot the 7oclock edge of the bolt that holds the steering ECU. If you have small hands and can reach up there ....

Other thing to consider is disconnecting the battery. Dealer time is more as they have to record preset and then re-program.

Also mark the new ECU as Ltuned as there is no physical or marking difference

Finally a word of caution; buy the ECU from reputable place and do ensure the non Ltuned ecu does not enter the market as Ltuned.
