Default Need help....engine stopped while driving

Need some help guys. As I was driving in the parking lot looking for parking my car all of a sudden turned off. There was power but the engine just stopped. I was picking up my daughter from school and luckily I was in the motion parking the car and the momentum let me fully park. But right after I turned off the car and fired it back up. Everything started fine. I was able to turn it off to pick up my daughter and it started up fine for me to go home and to work the next morning. Not sure what it was but I dont want it happening again.

I know I remember reading here where some people had the same problem but there's happened on the freeway. Anyone remember or know the cause of this. I want to get this fixed ASAP. Thanks for your help.

let me guess, you were going pretty slow and you didn't have your ac on? that's a common problem in that case, the low idling problem. just keep your ac on

i have never heard of the car shutting down on freeway though

Thats all correct. But any other solution than keeping AC on? Since its been really cold lately and I catch colds too easily, that probably not an option.

hahaa, then turn on the heat? j/k

you can work on the throttle wire a bit and tighten it up to raise the rpm just a slightest bit and it will help

So they never found a fix for this low idle problem? I have that happen on my 93 SC400 using the old 1UZ-FE engine. Fortunately we use the AC almost constantly in Hawaii so it is not that bad of a problem, but sometimes when I don't have the AC on it catches me by surprise when the car dies. Anyway, does this affect the GS430 4.3L engine as well?

I took the car out at lunch and as I was sitting at a stoplight on the hill I noticed the car sounding slightly rough. Wouldnt you know, I checked my idle and it was hanging a little too low. Hit my AC and was on my way. LOL. Thanks Rom.

But really I need to get this fixed. I've had this car for a little over a year. Its a 2000 GS4 model, bought it used and never had this problem before.

Oh! So that's the low idle problem. It happened to me three times since last year but never knew what it was. I wonder if cleaning out the throttle body help?

turning the lights on, even just to first click(parking lights) has the same effect as turning on climate control.
