Default Problems with CD CHanger

I just bought a 1998 Lexus GS 300 with 99k. THe car is awsome! Everyone I show it to thinks its brand new. This is my first lexus. Had BMW's before. This car is such a great combo of luxary and sport! I really think I am goig to love this car!
Anyway I can't get the CD CHanger to work. When I load in the disks I hear it cycle through. I even can get it to go to a selected disk but once it loads the display just shows the disk number and that is it. Do you think the CD changer is done? If so how easy is it to swap it out. Saw some changers on ebay for like $100. Also the person who owned it before me took the Lexus GS 300 badges off the trunk lid (why I don't know) does anyone know where I can get a replacement for it?

The parts in question can be found on ebay. I bought new emblems for both of my GS 300s. I also had the non-functioning CD changer and ended up changing it out to aftermarket. Do you have the Nakamichi or Pioneer system? With Nakamichi, I can help you if you just replace the head unit. If you have Pioneer, you need to change out the amp as well.

Thanks that worked. My BMW loads facing up so I guess I just assumed it was that way. When I read what you guys said I ran out to the driveway and and flipped the Discs over.......it works now! Stupid way of doing things but who cares it works! Now All I need are some new trunk lid badges and my lexus is the way I want it!

The original Pioneer changers were all that way. It's arguable which is better. Laying them face down prevents scratches on the reading surface. Laying them face up prevents scratches on the information surface. When in doubt, read the trays. Mine say "SET DISC WITH LABEL-SIDE FACE DOWNWARD"

Check e-bay. I pulled mine off because I think it's a cleaner look. None of my cars have their stick on badges left. I only left the "L" symbol on it.
