Need Help Removing Lighter Compartment
Has anyone ever removed the cigerette lighter section under the radio before? I've heard of some people putting their SAFC in the lighter compartment and that's where I want put mine. Do I need to dremel that area out or is there away to remove it? I'm thinking that it can be removed because there is a light there and I'm sure it can be replaced if it goes out.
Does anyone know how to do this? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the info, it just came right out just like you said. I was actually talking about where the actual lighter socket is housed. I was able to get the lighter socket out from the rear, but I had to remove the support that held the lighter socket and remove th screws so it comes apart.
The SAFC fits right in; now it looks like the ash tray holder is holding the SAFC unit. Thanks again guys.

Just so you know, the entire thing pulls out including the wood surround. Put the car in nuetral, open the ashtray. Grab both sides of it and rock it bakc and forth left to right pulling back. There are four friction clips that are holding the entire assembly in place. It's a straight back motion, then lift it to clear the shifter. Pretty simple. It threw me off when I saw the entire assembly including the woodgrain panel come with it.
I removed mine to dremmel out a little groove under it to run my sat. wires. My Roady XT was a touch too large to fit in the ashtray, so I mounted it right in front of it. I don't smoke so it didn't matter that I have to move the Roady to get to the ashtray.
