I was just wondering how my '00 gs400 (stock) would keep up with a 2001 ls 430. The reason i ask is because I have an offer from a friend to race, he really thinks that since its a 430, he can beat me.
Will the race be close, chance that i will win, he will win. Any opinion is appreciated.

Thumbs up Race and kill

You should have no problem to beat a Ls430. Based on the most recent Motor trend, the Ls430 goes from 0-60 in 6.34. And the GS400 does that in 5.8-6.2 seconds depend on the sources. Actually it is obvious to me that being a Sport seden, the GS400 will beat a luxury sedan like Ls430.

So go ahead and race him. Have fun

Turn ETC to power mode, turn off VSC, brake-torque to 2500 rpm, let go the brake and floor it. Traction is the main factor at take off, if there's wheel spin, let off the throttle a little bit to gain traction back.

well i havent raced the ls 430 yet, but the other day I raced a mustang gt. i have heard about the guy and his car, he is a serious racer. he beat me off the line by about 4 cars lengths(without nos).
I hope to race my friend with an eclipse turbo. he has modded it plenty but i think i can take him.

LS 430,no problem with your GS 400.If it was the 98-00 LS 400 then it will be close, but the GS should win.

Watch out for Turbo Eclipses they are fast.

power:

you are one cool guy. I respect your willingness to race all these different guys just to see how it will come out. Some people won't race their GS unless they KNOW they will win. I lost a race a few weeks ago to a freekin Saab 93. Man that sucked.

I'm surprised a Mustang GT beat your GS by that much.

Have you thought about SC or turbo or NOS?

Keep at it man!

From what I have experienced, the 400 should beat out the LS430 and the GS430 . For the GS430, only in the 0-60 category but from what I experienced, the 430 should pull harder after a certain speed.

The 1998 LS's are pretty fast. I was only a half-car length ahead of my friend when I raced him.

Bobcat,

The other night I was coming home on a large street when lo and behold a Mistubishi 3000GT comes beside me at a red light and guns it a little. So we take off on the green and quickly get up to 60MPH and he is about 5 car lengths behind and shutting down! I am so stoked and so we get to the next light and he is grinning so looks like a cool guy. I roll down the window and ask him if his car is the turbo version (I never got a chance to verify beforehand) since I thought I had just beat a turbo so soundly!!! He says no, and I was like, Aww Man, but he is smiling and he compliments me on my car. I tell him that I got all excited because I thought I had beat the turbo version. That would have been some feat.

The moral of the story is...even though the GS4 will lose races with turbos and sports cars, there is still a lot of respect that a big 4-door luxury car like the GS4 is pretty fast and that some Lexus drivers are willing to race just for the fun of it. There is a lot of respect out there for the GS4 so I guess we don't have to win every race because at least we ride IN STYLE.

Haha Bliu i did the same with this yellow 3000gt,but i kinda knew it was not a turbo the race just was to easy.

Then i tried my friends 300ZX TT and lucky the street was short or I would of lost sight of him.

The Outlaws, hehe the 98-00 LS400 to me could be made into a ultimate sleeper,99% of the poeple out there will not even know what hit them when they see a long boat zoom by them.
