Red face Fog Lights update

Well I tried to call the service manager today and could only get his voice mail.

I left two messages along with a request to call me.

I called around 9:30 am and it is now almost 5 pm and still no return call.

I will be calling again tomorrow.

Thanks for all the feedback it will help when he tries to explain the $47 to install them.
I still can't believe the $27 per bulb and the fact they did not have any in stock.

Keep up the good work. Keep calling until you get that money back because what they are doing is ludacris! If they refuse to refund your money, let other members know what dealership it is so they can avoid being ripped off. That is just unbelievable how they would charge you that much for used bulbs and then $47 for installation! Don't let this one go!

Cool Update

Well I got hold of the service man. today

I told him that over $100 to install 2 fog light bulbs just blew me away and he agreed that it sounds like a lot .

His story is the book says .3hrs to install each bulb so he has to charge for .6 hrs of labor.
The cost of the bulbs is up to the ownership of the dealer and he said he did not know how much they pay for them

After a while I said "it seems like there is no chance I can get you to remove this charge.
He said no he can't remove it. He did offer $75 credit towards any future work they do. I said that would go a long way to making me happy.

So that is the end of the story

Well done. From his perspective, the credit keeps the money in the dealership. From your perspective, you paid $25 to get bulbs and installation. Nice job.

Sounds like 2 free oil changes to me!! My dealer charges $44 for a complete lube and oil, not to mention the detail they put on the car before I pick it up. Works out okay by me. I think you did great sounds more than fair to me.

The price they charged you for labor is ridiculous, but the price for the bulbs would depend on what type of bulb the car uses. I picked up H3C bulbs (OE# 90981-13027) from Lexus for about the same price each. No choice really...these bulbs are not readily available at local auto stores. But on the bright side, if one goes out, you can buy another one for $27 as opposed to buying a set of aftermarket for $70-80.

LOL, they'll just jack the bill by $75 and never blink an eye. You got ripped, only lost $90 (the bulbs would have run you $10). Take your medicine and run away before they nick you for some real cash.

BTW, it's not just your Lexus dealer, my dealer wanted $300 for an HID bulb and $75 labor ($60 for a pair of bubls and 10 mins labor). They also wanted $700 for a front brake job, I DIY'ed it for $124. Paid for my factory service manual ($150) on my first job!

If you can't DIY, then find a good mechanic. There is nothing special about a Lexus that requires dealership service. IMHO, they just charge a fortune and give you a fancy Camary as a loaner.
