I get an Err message on the display when I try to play a CD. I have the standard 12 disc changer in the trunk. Not only will it not play, but I can not get the CD cartridge out either. Help! The local dealer told me $800 for a factory reconditioned system, this without even looking at the car. Thanks for any help/advice.

 

I have the same car. Try to unjam the changer first. if that dont work, you would be way cheaper getting a new system. You could maybe get a new changer w/o changing the deck out.

Any ideas on how to unjam the cartridge? Is there some sort of release button (other than the eject button)? Any ideas for a direct replacement. This is actually my friends car. I am try to help him out. I owe him big! He got me out of my BMW 5 series into the lexus (no looking back). I have a 1998 GS300(modifications to follow)

 

Seems there is no replacement for the CD changer unit except the ones from Lexus. I found one in a slavage yard for $325 (condition unknown). My local dealer will do a swap (I do the labor ) for $500 not the above posted $800. This is very interesting because Keyes Lexus wants $600 and this is after I told them I was a Club Lexus member Two alternatives; a complete new system or an FM modulator.
