I have found out that the GS 430 engine (stock) can handle 400bhp. Now what I would like to know is what needs to be done for it to handle more. If you know plese respond cause I am in the process of looking for mods and I am not going to be happy with only 400bhp Also if you would like to help me since I am new to this fourm as to what are the best mods to do performance wise. Thanx in advance

how much it can handle I don't know...... I think because it's made of aluminum block it can't take as much boost as the GS300's steel block, considering that you're doing some forced induction.

To handle more power you'll need to replace some internals. 430 3UZ-FE only 400hp max? I thought the GS300's 2JZ can handle around 550rwhp!

best bet on your 400/430 V8 performance mod is to check out SRT's website, and their Supercharger system. That's about the best performance mod you can have for a V8 GS.

For now you can get the Super Charger from Swift or you can wait for more mods to come out sometime this year. I believe that there are some shops working on a turbo kit. If your just looking for a M5 killer than go with the SC from Swift. Just know that its around 6K
I know that many 400/430 owners are waiting for more mods and would love to see a turbo by this year. The GS has gotten very hot and many shops are working on them.

Default Now we're talking..

A T55 is something I'd love to see on a GS4. Imagine the power? Huge fat intercooler? A boost gauge? I feel warm all over just thinking about it..

Bit,

Here you go buddy www.roadandtrack.com.. But it also states you need to bore out the 4.3 to 4.5 to get this kind of power.. All I have to say is 300 hp is fine with me.. If I wanted 400 plus I would buy a Viper or some other car along those lines.. Beside where in the world are you gonna run 400 plus HP unless you can find track time.. Oh well I know we all like more power but realistically you have to ask yourself WHY??

I'll probably here alot of comments over this but I think it truly is a valid statement..

I agree... I did the handling mods because for me taking corners quickly is fun, even a 90 degree turn at 25-30mph, but I really don't need more power. I don't think it would add much to my driving experience, because most of the time I'm stuck behind someone else on the roads anyway!

The car will be getting some track time defenatly. I know I might sound stupid for wanting more power but its just a habit of mine that I cant leave my car stock.

I also have a 1999 Mustang (v6) that now has over 350rwhp (started with only 190 horse at the crank)

Also have a 2k1 Focus that has close to 180wrhp.

I just love going fast.

theres nothing wrong with wanting more power as many of us want more too
I just think that we all are holding off to see what new mods comes out this year and to see what's the difference with Swifts new SC that should be out very soon. Its just a money issue given that everything and anything for the Lexus cost so much. Its not like a Honda or Acura where parts come pretty cheep. Just wait and see what happens

Question Who Knows?

Maybe I read that article ( thanks Savvy! ) wrong but I didn't see anything that indicates that 400 hp is the limit on the Lexus V-8. The GS is my first foreign ride so I'll let U other Members who have Supra & other TRD experience speak with a greater knowledge. For now it seems that the stock fuel system on the GS is the power bottleneck at 400 flywheel hp with the stock tranny next in line ( supposedly only good for 450 hp, according to RMM ) w/o mods. How much stress the internals can handle is way outta my league!!

Not sure the limit on that engine "before" internal mods are needed, but, if you look at the SRT site, notice that all the way up to the stage 3 SC there is no internal mod. (but Im not sure how much HP the stage 3 will produce) A buddy of mine that works as a tech at the Lexus dealership here said that he had a chance to inspect some of the internal components(pistons, etc.) of the GS400 engine.....He was ranting and raving about how he had never seen that kind of build quality on internals.... I dont know how this engine would stack up against say the SupraTT as far all out strength goes, but he seemed that think that either MAJOR forced induction or a hefty shot of nitrous would be no problem over the long term for this engine......Tiny
