lexus dealer was trying to sell me the autobahn, which is a clear film that goes around the front of the car, acts like a bra, and supposedly is very strong. i was wondering if anyone had it and if they got it from the dealer or somewhere else? dealer wanted to charge me $500!

So autobahn acts like a bra to protect the front? Could you post a picture of that? Maybe we could get it from Steve or Hiro....

The dealer here wanted $595 for it 2 weeks ago when I bought my GS 300. I opted to pass for that kind of money.

I have since found that you can buy this stuff from aftermarket suppliers for $159.95 and apply it yourself.

Here is the link:

NOTE: I have not tried this and am not endorsing this.
Just some other options you might want to check out.

Well If you go with the aftermarket. The package for the hood, fender, and mirror is 159.95 and for the bumper kit is 269.95. And you have to put it on yourself and no warranty on it. Any Lexus dealership will charge between 400-595 for both, but the great thing about it is that you have to worry about it for the next 3 years if it peel or discolor just bring back to the dealership and they will replace it. Hope this help you. Jimmy

Dealers are not the only source of installation. There are independant installers that should be less expensive based on input from one of the IS members at the last SE Club Lexus meet.

Go to this link and enter your zip code.
