Question Mark Levinson Amp shot already?!?!?!

Well, as most of you know, i just picked up my GS this past week. When I turn on the radio, there is no sound out of the speakers for the 1st few minutes, then it comes on. My friend is a tech for Lexus & he said that it is probably the ML amp. I know there is a TSB out for it, but my car now has 56K miles - thus out of warranty. Will Lexus sometimes do the repairs if it's close?

Any ideas? I don't want to spend $1K on a new amp.

Even though you are out of warranty, Lexus will sometimes provide help as a "goodwill" gesture. Really depends on how helpful your local dealer is. Maybe you might have some luck calling Lexus corporate. In the least, maybe they will split costs with you.

and you only have 56k miles warranty just out, so it's worth a try!

I had abot 52K on my car when my ML amp went out and my dealer rolled the miles back in the computer to help me out, so it was covered under warranty. I say give it a try, especially if you bought the car from the dealer.

Well guys, it turns out that I really do have a GREAT hook-up at the Lexus dealer. The service manager is great friends w/ one of my dad's best friends.
He could've basically hooked me up with ANYTHING under the goodwill policy that has any link to Lexus - BUT...
Since the ML amp has nothing to do w/ Lexus (technically), since i'm past 50K miles, i'm stuck paying for it.

Damage: $550 (remaned amp), plus tax and install = almost $700

Doesn't sound like you have a GREAT hook up there at all, bro. Especially since there was a TSB regarding the part. Sorry you gotta shell out that loot. Hope all turns out well.

Well, i woke up early to pick up my amp from the dealer. I took my old one out on my own & put the new one in. It was a lot easier than I thought. It's nice to actually be able to enjoy the ML stereo now.

Final cost: $591
