Tonight I drove home from work with VSC OFF and I really felt that the car was more responsive overall. Is that true? I certainly wasn't skidding or anything, but is the VSC too conservative, robbing power more often than we (I) think?

Bit,

I agree with you totally on this point. The VSC system is set way too conservative I guess to save "Joe, Non-Driver" from him/her self. Those pesky electrons in the accelerometers and sensors can sense changes that are imperceptible to our candy a$$es. There are a few drawbacks to not having it on though... just ask 1Sick!

to get the most out of the GS. turn off the vsc and drive in e-shift. I have notice a big difference when driving with e-shift and vsc off. I was racing with a GS430 and had no problem pulling away. even with a bad start my car slowly will pass the 430.

With the VSC off, the car responses faster off the line or just a better reaction time overall?

btw: Y2KGS, I see your car in the signature, do you have mirror tints on? It looks like it from that pic. I am looking into getting some mirror tints.

y2kgs - that's funny - diesel was wondering if your tint itself was the mirrored kind, not if your mirrors are tinted!

I felt that it was quicker overall. I now intend to turn VSC off any time I want to drive, er, enthusiastically without any danger around. Like in a parking lot tomorrow at the Atlanta meet!

Bit, yeah I might just turn that off as well ! But be careful not to get carried away

Y2kGS, sorry, but I am a little confused on your response. I wanted to get "mirror" tints instead of the traditonal "black" tints and from your SIG, it looked like you had "mirror" tints on your windows.

hey mieselman63,

sorry but I got confused with the word mirror.
The tint I got is called the titanium tint. Yes, it does look
like if its mirrored and I think it looks alot better than just your black tint that everyone seems to get. The plus side to it is that cops don't really seem to mine as much. Given that if it was black than I know that I would have gotten a ticket by now.
Go for the titanium tint if you have a black or sliver car. Another member got his sliver GS tinted and looks nice.

Don't you just love my headlights

Let's just say that the VSC is there for a reason and you most likely will feel more response from the engine with it off, but unfortunately that is also the time when you want to gun it and you need the VSC the most. No reason to sacrifice safety when it's all there for you already.

I have heard of accounts with owners turning of their VSC and just losing control when they want to test the limits of their cars.

Be safe always and enjoy the Lexus!

Right, I did qualify that I'd only use VSC off when there's no danger around, and certainly not recklessly.

It's a valuable safety feature.

That is why you need LSD, and turn at VSC off, let the LSD do the work

=)
