Ebay ECM with key( Valet Key)

Ebay ECM with key( Valet Key)
I got an ECM, with key, off Ebay. My warning lights have come on a few times, so I thought I'd get this just in case. Turns out the key was a Valet Key, which the seller failed to mention!
From all the threads I've read, this ECM and key would be worthless for my 98 GS400, since I would need a master key to program another key, and this ECM can't be reprogrammed.
After I emailed the seller regarding this, he said it could be reprogrammed. I wondered if I could get a definative answer to this problem, and to warn other members who may be looking for an ECM. Thanks for any help!

hmmm, to be honest w/u i really think u got scammed... as far as i know, if u dont have a master key, you cannot program any other keys. im not too sure how this would have solved the problems u were having w/ur car, but all i know is that u need a master key... but since u have this unit outside of the car, im not too sure if there is anything that can be done to fix it

Scammed or just didn't know?
You may be correct. I don't know if the seller scammed me, or just didn't know any better but, thats why I'm putting up this post, so others don't make my mistake.
