Just let go of my 94 GS300 two weeks ago and picked up 01 GS430 with 63,000 miles. Gorgeous car, champagne with tan interior, just like the old GS300. Drove it home to NYC from Kansas City, MO (1,200 miles) this weekend - absolutely enjoyed the ride.

Only two concerns so far - one that the car has a regular steering wheel - I want to install the wood wheel. I see a bunch of them on ebay from ES, RX, etc, would these fit? How hard is is to install? And the other one is that it has chrome wheels - Lexus factory 17" chrome. I hate chrome, and I will exchange them for regular satin finish Lexus factory 17" ASAP. If anyone here wants to make that trade give me a halo.

What kind of maintenance should I perform on the car? When is the timing belt due? What kind of oil should I use? Any issues with these cars I should know about?

Congrats on the purchase.

As far as the swap goes, it should be pretty easy. Just pick up the wood wheel out of another gs430 and it is a direct swap.

Welcome fellow GS owner. Ain't it nice to make a long trip in a car and not get fatigued!! I enjoy every minute I'm in mine. You'll like this site too...tons of info.

nice car. looks like you got a good price if the buy now was $20k. If I were you, I'd put a post up to see if anyone with a wood wheel GS430 wants to trade steering wheels. I personaly love the wood wheel, but I have heard more than one person here with the wood 430 wheel say they would rather all leather instead. you could probably sell those 17s pretty quick in classifieds too.
