I was getting body parts for my 2003 gs300 at a junk yard and got them off a 02-03 gs430 and saw the nice looking wood grain steering wheel my question is will it fit plug and play they are selling it for $90 super cheap

If it is in good condition get it, is a direct swap. Plug and play. Did it to both my 01GS300 and 01GS430.

What wheel/s did it replace the stock wheel with ? The wood-grain wheel, a newer/cleaner one, or different color?

I want to change my steering wheel too put in not sure which one would fit because i have a 1998.

The wood grain wheels from 01-04 SC430, 01-03 RX300 will bolt up in your 98 with not issues, however, you might need the adaptor
p/n09082-00760 to fit the newer airbag to your car. Or just cut and splice the two airbag wires.
Swapping the newer steering wheel into the 99+ GS is a direct swap since Lexus changed the airbag plug.

I thought it was said that the 98-00 GS300 would not interface with the newer wheels from the 01+ without extensive mods. There was mention of 1-stage vs 2-stage airbags etc. Is it true that my 99 GS300 could have a woodgrain wheel that is plug and play?

That is correct you can swap your steering wheel and use the single stage airbag. I think 01 to 03 RX300 and SC430 have the single stage airbags.
Yes, yours should be plug and play as long as the airbag is single stage. I recently swapped one of those wheels in to my buddy's 99 SC300. Took me 10 minutes to do it.

Thanks, just to be clear I need to install any wood wheel from a 2nd gen GS and swap out the bag from an 01-03 RX? Is it also possible to install a complete wheel with bag from an RX onto my 99 GS300?
