Default oil plug washer

Hey CL, I just wanted to ask a quick question. Do we really need to replace the oil plug washer every oil change?

Not necessary unless it's very worn.

I agree with this ingenious statement.

The thing costs $0.80 ~ $1.00 but it gets crushed (due to the squeeze action at the right torque). Once crushed, it has lost its value/purpose to give a fluid tight seal. So do replace it.

Bye the way the only thing worse than not replacing one is to put a new one without discarding the old one (two washers).

The washers I use (supplied by dealer) are like metal rings, so I can't see how they can be crushed. I think they make now out of metal so they can be reused.

joshoowa, next time you change your oil, get a gasket from the dealership. everytime i went to get one from the dealer, they gave one to me for free and told me "don't worry about it." that's pretty cool of them.

Aluminum or some alloy ... soft metal ... when you take it off look from the side and you can see it has been squeezed.
