Default Alternator Alternatives

Well I think I have blown uo my alternator again in my 1998 Lexus GS 300. I was at the car wash yesterday and I noticed when I came back from getting change that the car was still firing as if it was trying to start up. I had the keys in my hand so I knew I had a big problem. Well whatever it was eventually burned out I am guessing starter or alternator. A bad smell and fumes were coming from an area near the top center of the engine bay when I opened the hood. The alternator has gone out before and that was the same type thing except this time the battery still works and I can power the car. My question is what are the alternatives to the stock aletrnator for those of us with lots of audio/video equipment installed? I know some of you have lots of aftermarket stereo equipment like I do has anyone had this kinda problem what do you suggest?

PLEASE HELP!!??
