Hi all,

I own a 2nd Generation 1998 GS300.

At just beside the audio player, there's an ASL button and this ASL sign on the digital sign sometimes extend a horizontal line.

Does anyone knows what the ASL stands for or does?

Thanks

My guess was Automatic Sound Leveling. It is supposed to raise the volume with speed, or something like that.

Yes, in this case ASL is automatic sound level not age/sex/location like in chat rooms. You need to get yourself an owners manuel for your car from Lexus, its free just register with them on line and request one. Go to www.lexus.com you will need the VIN number.

When I saw the thread title I was like "What is this doing in here...shouldn't it be in the Clubhouse"

The ASL on the 2001+ only has on and off. I think it's really useless though, because It does't work on the Lex like it does on my other cars.

No, it's in all models, since mine is a '99 regular Lexus cheapo. It's the automatic sound leveling.
I don't see a reason to turn it off, but when it's on, it automatically levels or turns up the volume when it's noisy like when you have the windows down.
With the windows up or when it's quiet, there's no bar but when you roll the window down then you can start seeing the bar raise in increments.
Nothing spectacular.
