just came here to vent. i was changing my front brakes and the passenger side was a breeze. i have already changed all the brakes twice so i knew wut i was doing. then i got to the driver side. everything was going great but i couldnt put the caliper back on. turns out the brakes were too thick? so i had to use one old pad and one new pad. not only that... one of the 2 screws from the caliper will not go back in all the way. its 3/4 in. so frustrating. i already have the shakes at high speeds. now with an untightened screw itll probably be worse. maintentance can be so satisfying when things go right. but not today. hopefully i dint hurt her too bad.

Did you press the pistons in far enough? Are you using OEM pads?

Cant blame the car if its not the car thats the problem.

My gripes in no specific order:
1) Weak suspension design -UCA's easily have contact with strut tower
2) Weak lower balljoint design
3) The sunroof shade rattles unless I pull it fwd.
4) Weak locking regulators (but fixed it)
5) Lack of trunkspace/or there of?-E39 BMW's had huge trunks. Even the 3GS has a tiny trunk vs the E60.
6) No Folding Rear Seats?
7) GS300 Gearing. Already doing 3,000 at 80 ...

YES! Gearing sucks, gas waster imo. We're at 2500 most of the time. Not worth the acceleration :/

unless you bought the wrong pads I doubt your pads are too thick; it sounds like you just need to compress the pistons all the way - next time go to Home depot, kragen etc and buy a $5 C-clamp to smash them down and then quickly stuff the pads in there.
fix your breaks asap, I wouldnt drive on them with a partially assembled system.....they take way too much force

my #1 hate is weak suspension design! tired of my car smacking strut tower.

My GS attracts door dings. I wish it had door guards (like the older BMWs)

I thought I was the only one having sunroof rattle issues right now....one over my left ear and one towards the middle of the roof. Drives me INSANE.

I love the car but hate the steering wheel shake. Thats the worst thing in the world. Having a nice car and watching your steering wheel shake like it has Parkinsons. Then spending hundreds of dollers to try and fix it. Weak....

I had the steering wheel shake problem. Turned out the last guy to balance my tires was a moron and just put large amounts of weights in random places. I did it myself at school and now it's perfect. Steering feel improved a little too, but it's still a little floaty at times, but the front end needs an alignment and that should help fix it.

Other than that, I had how the stock radio display slowly and annoyingly dies. The LCD has slowly been dying, and now the back light is completely dead, so I can't see what the heck I'm listening to when it is dark. Oh, and the body roll and not so supportive front seats, doesn't exactly inspire confidence when you want to have fun on a twisty road.

its been 2yrs since anyone has posted but I have an 01 GS430 with 130K and this would be my list;

1.) Door lock actuators, replacing them and the cost associated with what equates to about $5 of plastic and a servo motor.

2.) Climate control servos - See #1

3.) Rattle from the sunroof

4.) Brake Booster whine

5.) Steering vibration - how many times I thought it was a need to have my car aligned and tires balanced.

But I absolutely love this car and....nothing beats a V8. I agree the suspension and steering could be better......and that damn delay when you punch it. You almost have to start in 3 and shift to eliminate it.
