Hi guys im new to this forum, well not exactly new cuz i was a member before you guys moved to this wonderful new server. im starting to gain interest in my gs again because its going to become my daily driver again due to the fact that my honda is becoming a ricers 5 finger discount dream at my school! my question is, what is a good width for a 19" rim? note, that i will use the same width all the way around and i do plan to lower the car with H&R springs. im juss trying to avoid another horror story like the one i experienced when i put 20"x9 1/2"s all the way around!!!

Thanks Guys
Mike

S2k - The widest you can go is 8 1/2 " all around without rubbing. What happened when you put 9 1/2 "
all around?

Also what kind of rims you putting on your car?

Default width

S2k, 1niceride is right about the 8.5 width, it's the biggest you can get if you want the same width all around. (like me!) However, like more people, who prefer the more aggressive "STAGGERED LOOK" the option is still opened. You can put 19x 8.5 in front, but in the rear you mite as well put 19x 9.5~10. It looks fantasic, and your car suddenly turned into a true sport breed!. Don't go anything bigger than 8.5 for the front. = ) good luck!

Default My car doesn't rub

I am running 19X9in (245/35Y19) in the front and 19X10in (275/35Z19) in the back. My wheels car for +45 offest. To my experience they don't rub. And yes, Dunlop makes 275/35Z19. I suggest that you should not go under a 35 series tire. Many people (and I for one) have done it and having that extra sidewall is worth the increased diameter. Also, I know that a 255/40 in 19" exists if you don't mind the increased rotation.

Default 30 Series Tires

Hey v300:

Was there a big diffence between the 30 series versus 35 series tires you were running?

David GS400,

The ride felt a tad bit more soft and the cabin was more quiet. Then again I can not fully justify my answer because I have also switched the brand of tires. I was running AVS Sport, but now I am running Dunlop SP9000. These tires are supposed to be more luxury rather than pure performance. AVS Sport is a true sticky performance tire. It was loud... but I loved the traction. But as for running 35 series in the rear I have piece of mind knowing that I have "sidewall" in case of making that evasive manuever pass that dreaded pothole-o-fate. *Knock on wood to all my brethrens with plus size wheels* Also I did not notice an unbearable increase in acceleration... then again I don't drag race my car often.

By the way, are dubs 20" and larger wheels?

v300,
I'm planning to get some 19s 8.5" F and 9.5" R. I really like those Dunlop SP9000s too. Where did you get your SP9000 at and how much did you pay? I tried looking them up at tirerack.com but they don't have 245/35ZR19 for the front... they only have 245/40ZR19 (btw, would 245/40 fit?).

Thanks,
GSPOWER

Also Dubs are suppose to be 20s and above

GSPOWER,

I got the tires dirt cheap... I am not at liberty to say. Why don't you mix and match? I forgot to mention that my car is running Toyo Proxes T-1 S 245/35ZR19 in the front and SP 9000 275/35ZR19 for the rear. It's working fine for me. Since you are up north why not ask MAS Wheelhouse and ask for that Rodney guy. He seems pretty popular. If you don't mind coming down to SoCal you can not go wrong with Discount Tires in El Monte. Ask for Vic.
