I am having a problem the rear passenger door lock on my 98 GS4. It will not lock (it stays unlocked) with the remote, using the driver switch or manually using the thumb button on the door itself. I think I can hear the door actuator working (it makes the same noise as all the others) but it will not work. When I try to manually use the thumb switch on the door itself it moves but I cannot "feel it" lock/unlock, the button just moves when I push very hard. Does this seem to be a symptom of a door actuator going bad? I don't want to order the part only to find out it's somthing else. Any help would be appreciated.
Its the actuator...very pricey at the dealership.....do a search under "door lock actuator" and you should find alot on this problem....it is a flaw in the 98-99 GS models...

Its a flaw in all year GS models. I have a 2000 and have replaced 2 already with 1 more acting up. Im going to replace the last one while im at it
My lock still seems to be working, but there is a clear, high pitched squeak from one of my doors when I press unlock. Does this sound like the same problem?

if your car is still under warranty, yes, otherwise, no
