Just came back from partly installing all my alpine stuff and met this guy with an M3, sick system, lowered it 2, 1/2 inches with tv's everywhere. He had 19's LD1 and he was telling me he wants to re-chrome those suckers but he told me that it takes 1 month at the store to re-chrome them. He said its normal practice to have it there for that long. I dunno about re-chroming never did that and don't need it now, but anyone know if that is true?

One month is a long time just to rechrome wheels.

From personal experience, the whole aftermarket/custom car industry lags.

Wow, 1 month? That does seem long. I recently bought some new 18" wheels from Dave at gtautosports, he told me it took 1-2 weeks to have the wheels chromed and shipped back. Since the guy with the M3 is getting them re-chromed I would guess that it might take a little longer since they would strip off the old chrome. Nevertheless, 1 month still seems kind of long.

my friend just rechromed his wheels on his mitsu. GT3000 it took something like 3 weeks for them to get done but he had to ship them out of state thats why they took so long but I think it shouldn't take that long if the shop was closer maybe it just depends on how much damage is done to the rim

It probably only takes a few days to do the work. If the shop is busy it may take a few weeks before they complete the jobs ahead of yours.

If they ain't busy they're goin' out of business.

It only took 7 "working days" to get the rims plated on the Corvette 17"F, 18"R including shipping back from Atlanta, GA to Mississippi... A month is 2 long...

Just make sure the warranty is in writing in advance and that it is very clear about the terms/length (have someone to fax it to you if it is not on their site, even then you should print it off the web site, plus obtain a signed copy....) Inspect the wheels closely for imperfectons that could lead to flaking, blistering etc... Ask a lot of questions, to get a feel for the shop's knowledge, quality and service...

$$$$$$$$
How much do shops usually charge for re-chroming. I know the bigger the wheel, the more money, but does anyone know how much for any sizes.?
