black lex flooded
hey guys, i know there must threads somewhere with Frances talk but i'm at my brother's house and he only has dial up at the moment so i can't scroll around much....i'm doing ok...i'm in West Palm Beach where we got hit really hard by the storm and one of my losses among other things was my blk lex. the blue was tucked away in the garage protected but the blk lex was my get around and it got stuck in a bad area and got flooded. i called my insurance yesterday and they came out 2day to look at the car, doesn't look good right now...they say i got water in the engine and i might lose it. i got water inside aswell but not in the dash i don't think. the water was kneee high to me and i'm about 6-1"..so mayb 3 ft. high i would guess...i just got power back at my house today, i lost it saturday. but i have no internet...my house is still there but most everything around it isn't....anyone know the chances pg me loseing my car or getting it back. the insurance said depending on how bad it is they 1st look 4 rebuilt motors than they look 4 a motor thats from a total loss where mayb the car got rear ended and the motor is still good, if they can't and it needs a new motor or block they total it they say and thats not counting how much damage is inside. well anyway i hope u guys r good. i'll try 2 get back with u guys when i can....

Dude...you and ur family.....stay safe...you guys may get Ivan next....I really hope NOT.
As for the blk GS...sorry to hear that. I'd ask to total it cuz rust will set in, te electrical will be messed, mold can develop in the A/C system, and thats on top of the bad engine.
Chuck it....find another one.

glad to hear that you made it out alright blue. sucks to hear about blackie. where i live became an island so i feel what you are going through with area. there is about 4 feet of water in my back yard and the lake that was behind it is now at the steps of the back porch. I just got back to my house today the 8th after loosing power since sunday night. Some of the water is receeding, but get this, it was pouring today in my neck of the woods when i came home... so we have MORE water on the ground and more flooding. this sucks. My Lex didnt make it out unharmed either, i have some bumper damage from a branch that flew across the interstate when i was on an emergency run to Home Depot. and then in the parking lot of Home Depot a pretty sizable branch hit the rear quaterpanel of my car. Not deep scratches, but noticable. And to top it all off... Ivan is projected to brush the west coast of Florida. GREEEEEAAATTTT....
If your car got flooded in, total it.
It will never be the same. Not only that, you will never be able to 100% get rid of the flood smell once that water gets into your car. Especially if you said it was 3 ft deep.
Trust me, I live in one of the most flooded cities in the world and I would never step into a car that's been flooded in, you'd never know what else could be messed up other than just the engine.
Get a total loss and buy yourself a nice new car with the money.
On another note, I am glad everyone's ok where you are. I know it must have sucked if you are not used to this kind of weather (we here in South East Asia get jaded after countless hurricanes, typhoos and monsoon weather) but believe it or not, the sun will shine again some time and it will be a great new day.
Now, that EVO8 that you saw on the dealer's lot the other day is beginning to look pretty good now, ain't it?
Just kiddin'. All my prayers are with you and your family.

A,
im glad to hear that you and your family is ok... thats the important thing!
as for your car being flooded, they should total the vehicle. the interior is worthless when flooded, plus if your dash got flooded, the electrics might be all messed up.
good luck my friend... the GS can be replaced.. life cannot...

Hey Adrian,
Sorry to hear about the car. First thing, glad you and your family are all safe. I felt the tremble of Francis and know what you went through. I know you guys got it worse than we did though.
As far as the car, I agree with the guys, let them total it. Push em for it.....unless everything is restored and guaranteed by the Lexus dealership you trust.
