Default 99 Tail light wiring

I just finished searching Google and in our forums but haven't found what I'm looking for yet.

I'm trying to figure out which colored wires in my tail lights are for Brake Lights and which are for the regular Tail Light. (I won't even comment about the separate turn-signal or back-up lights and wires)

I've got my right-rear tail light out and we've got 3 wires to each 'red' bulb. They both have a white wire which appears to be the common ground.
The upper bulb has a solid red and a black wire, and the bottem bulb has a green/white and green/tan colored wire in it.

I'm working alone so it's a bit difficult to test and make changes.

Anyone happen to know why we have 4 different colored wires for out tail-lights??

more info to add, but still having trouble finding out which color wire is the "brake" light.

I thought it was the red one, but it's giving 12V with just the lights on. Ditto the Green/orange wire.

A manual I saw for a camry has the Green/White wire being some kind of "light out" sensing.

I'll try the black wire next (white/black is ground), but any help is still appreciated.

FOUND IT.

the brake light wire in the harness is not the red wire as I had first suspected, it is the green/white wire.

let me guess, you're hooking up the upper brake lights as well? I did this yesterday quick mod to make yourself different.

Nice. Definitely the right person to go to if you are not doing it yourself. Can't wait to see it.
