Default 2003 GS300 VS 2004 Vette

Ok fellow GS owners. I am strongly considering selling the GS to buy a new 2004 Vette. I absolutely love my GS, but I just can't get the Vette out of my system. I bought a new Vette in 95 and have regretted everyday that I sold it. My question is...would you sell your GS to buy a Vette? I'm not concerned about the mileage issue with Vette's as far as never driving them because I will still put about 10K a year on the either car. I don't drive the Lexus in the winter anyway so that's not an issue either. Just give me some input. Thanks.

Are you considering a Vette because it is faster than a GS3?
If so, have you considered the GS430?
Personally, I would not get a vette, because I like the extra room in the back, but yet have the power of a GS4. But that's me.
Also, I assume the insurance for a Vette cost more.

Ditto. If I didn't need 4 doors I wouldn't have them.

However, have you driven other cars in it's class? I have owned and my family has owned various 2 door sports cars and all the Vette's from a Calloway to a ZR1 while extreme fun to drive were some of the most expensive to own, had the lowest quality, and were the least safe.

Unless your biggest goal is to breakout the rearend constantly I would strongly recommend test driving more sports cars, maybe even looking for some good deals used.

There are so many cars now with similar performance you might want to look for something that offers more control, more longevity, or something of higher quality.

I love Vettes, but they are about 80% out of my system already, if you haven't noticed.

Believe it or not, the vette is only 8 dollars a year more to insure for me. I'm not really worried about the room as I have a truck and a Maxima for those purposes. I would love a GS430, but a new one is going to really hurt. The dealer is coming down 10K off of sticker on the vette so I can afford that one. Anyway, yeah like Dave said, get it out of your system. I was told before I bought my first vette, that once you own one, it's in your blood. That guy was absolutely right.

Two different cars. I had a vette, the happiest day of my life is when I sold that piece of ****. The only thing it did that I liked was to smoke the rear tires, at $240 each. Let see, fuel injectors replaced, transmission replaced, 3 Bose speakers replaced, both headlight motors replaced, intake manifold leak, air bag sensor replaced, master cylinder replaced, *** beating ride, never could get the shimmy out, cd player replaced, it had 50K miles on it, never wrecked. The only good thing was it depreciated the least of any car that I owned. I hated that POS. I find someone that has purchased more than one in their lifetime and I am talking to a dumbass!!!!!

Lexus GS300 = annoying little noises. Comfortable ride, *** freezing AC (I live in Houston), no shimmy, perfect brakes. Yes it is slow compared to a vet but that is it. Easy to get in and out of. 6 way power seat. The vet has manual recline. Extremely safe car in a wreck.

I had a love/hate relationship with all of mine.

Loved to drive them, Hated to fix them.

Just had a buddy of mine with one having a problem with his auto shifter getting locked out due to a faulty part and another had electrical issues that no one could figure out.

Default Best of both worlds?

I suppose you could get the best of both worlds. Have you considered a Cadillac CTS-V? Same engine as the Vette, but it's pretty luxy inside.(not as much as a Lexus, but not bad for a GM). If not, get a Vette...you only live once...I suppose for the price of a new Vette you could get a Lexus CPO SC430??

I actually was looking at a nice used 6 speed manual CTS-V in the sweet metalic orange color but $$ were to just to much and my wife didn't want a stick.

This is probably my 2nd favorite 4 door sports luxury vehicle to the GS. Very nice interior.

I would pick the GS series over both of them. Lexus has a reputation of Elite Luxury. At least that is my opinion - I own both and prefer the Lexus over the Infiniti G35.
