Default 98 Trade Value

Hello,

What should I expect or a trade value.
Two lexus dealers will only give me $13k- $14k for my car.
They state it is in great condition but in the midwest the values are lower due to the winters (rear drive issues).
I wonder if I could sell this to a member for more than this. maybe $16K?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Private party I would expect to get around $17,000 - $18,000 depending on condition.

Any suggestions on the trade value. I want $15,800 but can only get a max of $13-14K depending on the dealer. This is upsetting for such a great car in perfect condition.

GS4's here in arizona consistantly bring $20k or more private party. If its a nav car, then no question you should be getting alot more than they are offering. FYI, when I was looking to get out of my 4runner, dealers were offering me about the same, 13 to 14k for it. I sold it to a small wholesaler for $18k without ever putting an ad out. I was just in a hurry. If you have time, put it in the local paper/trader. You will definately get alot more. Reguardless of the color, you should see at least 18k for it, if it is very clean. If its a navi car, then I'd post it for 20 and see what happens. Not sure how the SD market is for GS's, being the wierd weather up there, but thats where I would start.

They are selling on the dealer lots for about 19K. I need tires and soon brakes. I may counter offer at $14,600 today. This is still low in my book. But the midwest weather thing appears to be the issue the lexus dealers have told me.

Default keep in mind

keep in mind if you get 14k for your car that you dont pay taxes on 14k since you already paid them so you save probrably an extra $850 depending on what your taxes are in your state, however if you find someone to buy your car usually the dealer will let them run it through there name to save you on taxes as well.

Undercut what the dealer is selling on their lot by 1K and put it in autotrader and ebay.

Since you are from SD the Midwest winter issue souldn't come into play as much as in the Great Lakes Snowbelt states farther east.....WI, OH, MI, etc... SD is COLD but doesn't get anywhere near the snow the Great Lakes area does.

If you want to sell it to someone in the CL forum here, there is a column for that. You can put it in the CL classifieds. Click under "General" and then "Member Classifieds". If you heed help, you can PM Dave GS4, the forum administrator.

Thanks for all the assistance. My previous attempts to sell it to the CL members was unsuccesful.

here is the deal I just signed.

Trade: $14,225 plus window tint and undercoating on the Tahoe Z71.
Plus $12,500 off the window sticker on the loaded Tahoe Z71,
Tahoe sale price $23,000 out the door

I know this sounds low, but the car needs tires, the brakes are at 10% and receintly it has not been starting. It appears to be a starter or ignition problem. Not to mention none of the remotes work.
Estimated expenses to fix these: $2500

Thanks I will still be around due to my RX300. And will always be on the GS board as this is still the best sedan that has been built under 60K

Regards,

E
