Well, if you're friend is going to repaint the ENTIRE car for you, I would definitely get the car painted a different color (as long as it matches your interior).

But, painting the car really depends on your preferences. I would tell you to paint your car a color like Camren's (awesome, by the way, IMO), but we wouldn't want twins, would we?

As for bodymods, how 'bout a little action a la Rockero28?

I wouldn't shave the doors unless you want it to be a show car or something. Shaved door handles may end up being more of a pain than anything...

If he's gonna do EVERYTHING for you, I say go get a bodykit and have him mold it into the car. That would be awesome.

Be sure to post pics!

Keep in mind that changing the color of a car to another color is very time consuming to do properly as the doors, glass, interior, engine,etc.. must be removed. Otherwise a decent auto expert could tell the color has been changed. Most often the job turns out horribly unless you spend 5k in it.
Just an FYI. Le

wow guys thank you soo much. im quite new and i might be mechanically inclined but pc's got me by the throat. anyways i really appreciate the advice and the support. it really feels like one big lexus family.
im thinking of keeping it black but just maybe adding a metalic tone to it or something. if anything then maybe just retouching the scratches and doing a nice high gloss clearcoat.
on another note who can give me some info on what is the aristo and whats the deal with it.
i have a 2000 black gs3 and i was considering changing the emblems from lex to toyo??? what do you guys think?
to degrading???
i first need to know what is the deal with the aristo????
thanks again

The GS is the Toyota Aristo in all other markets outside the US.

Personally, I can't imagine changing the Lexus badges to Toyota.
To me, that immediately cheapens the car. If you really like the name
Aristo, then just change the "GS*00" to Aristo but keep the "LEXUS" and
"L" badges on. Just my opinion.

dont forget if you are going to change the color of teh car to have him take off the door panals and the trim around the doors and spray them as well and take off all the body parts you can light rear tail lights and side markers and all too.

honestly i dont suggest the color change if you do dont go to drastic rember your engine compartment will always show the true color unless you plan on taking out the motor as well.

i say you keep it black and reclear it. If you want a metallic black, you should check out the lamborghini black. I think black is pretty awesome. Be sure to ask him to give ya an extra coat of clear so he can sand and buff the **** out of it . post pix later!

if he's offering to repaint your car, at least get him to fix the dents/scratches and minor imperfections(assuming that you have at least one lol). Black i think he could butt match the color since black is...black lol. Again, gl with the car and sorry for the double post! aloha

Clearcoat on black...
That may be a bad idea considering that the factory lexus black doesn't have a clearcoat..Maybe a really good polish and wax will make your paint shine...

Actually johnee, some of the black Lexus cars (esp. the newer ones) do have clearcoat in them. There hasn't been any known timeline of when Lexus decided to put clearcoat on black cars, but Dan ("Guitarman") has set up a thread here to establish a database of black Lexus cars (clearcoated and non-clear).

have him wet-sand the WHOLE car, buff the living hell out of it, and THEN a coat or two of clear. That would be awesome when it's done.
