no way, it HAS to be a GS430 unless the guy modded the hell out of the car. gs400 did NOT come with wood steering wheel at all, only gs430 comes with that option. gs400 has e-shift, gs430 doesn't

That steering wheel has definitely been switched out. Looks like a steering wheel from '9x-200X(?) LS.

That is a LS 400 steering wheel. GS cars have true sports sedan 3 spoke steering wheels.

ChoppinLex, u don't need to buy that car with the wrong steering wheel. The Air bag won't work either and if it does it is the wrong size airbag.
You need to show that a GS steering wheel. Here. This is from the GS 300 SD. That is a GS steering wheel.
98-00 GS did not have a wood wheel option, all leather.

actually tis' hard to say. that's a ls400/430 steering wheel ( i think it's a ls400 steering wheel), and also the air bag. if the connector is the same then the system would work just fine, not a problem at all

but then you lose the e shift function, that's a minus for sure

It might work but the airbag size may be different, the delay may be different in release and the car is not built for that steering wheel. It may collapse in the wrong position and hurt the legs or face.

I say switch it.

Tell him u want the original GS steering wheel that goes with the car or a discount for the wheel so u can buy one. Get a price for a GS steering wheel from a dealer and tell him take off the price for the wheel and installation.

BTW, tampering with Airbags is illegal so I do hope it works.
