Mine is sitting still too, I try to start it every 3-4 days when its REALLY cold to avoid the battery dying, also i like to let the fluids circulate to avoid hoses turning brittle, etc!

I am currently at work but took a nice set of pictures of the GS I will share when I get back.

Your car looks similar to mine!

You should see my poor 1993 Maxima. Its still in the street.

I know thats a broken down garage but hey better than nothing. Should've bought a Ford Taurus and saved the rest to fix the garage. No way, man. All I need is a garage door but can't put a regular door in because the corner of the garage is cut and it needs to be that way so I can get the car out from behind my house. I have to do a custom job myself.

I just started the car for 15 min just to make sure old man winter didn't do a job on the alternator or battery. Started perfectly. But I am not putting that thing on drive.

DGOT20s, I feel sorry for you, man. I heard the Blizzard is staying in your area until Monday night. Stay safe.

ripe 911,

Do you have a garage door so your car doesn't get snowed on while still in the garage? Or if not you could put something over the front so the car doesn't get snowed on as much.

I have to get a custom garage door that no one makes. The garage is cut on one side of the corner because it sits behind the house so the car needs to come out by making a right turn into the driveway. I need that corner cut.

About the Car cover. Just one of those things I didn't get around to getting. Didn't think it was going to snow so early this season. But it is a funny picture. Heh heh.

I think you may be doing more harm than good. Letting the car run at idle for 15 minutes will still leave condensation in the exhaust and possibly even the engine. Plus, idling for 15 minutes will not restore your battery from a cold start, so you are likely leaving it more discharged than before you started it.

My advice is to get an inexpensive battery charger and maintain the battery charge if your down time is over 2 weeks. And I would only start the car if you intend to drive it for a good half hour. Aside from the battery discharging, there's no harm in letting your car sit in a garage for a month or two.

Yea 15 minutes is not really enough top keep the battery charged, it can actually cause the battery to die earlier!!
