Taking no chances...
Ripe911..the first thing i would do if i were you is buy some 2 x 4's or something and patch up that garage...
You wont have to worry about the car starting if that damn garage collapses from the weight of the snow....
That's one of the worst garages i have ever seen BTW!

ripe911, go to home depot and get one of those huge painters tarps They are usually blue in color. Hammer some nails in the top of the garage to secure the tarp. And as for the bottom, use some bricks as weights. You could you that to cover the front of the garage untill you get the door up. (If you dont know what kind of tarp i'm talking about I have one i'll snap some pics for ya)
Cyclemax ,
That GS looks nice and cozy. I had a little tarp as a makeshift door but it blew away a few weeks ago.
I am lucky I even own a house in NY. The houses in NYC go for like $400,000 plus. That little shack I call a garage probably adds another $50,000 to the value. I plan on breaking it down one day and building a garage with a 2nd floor for a little clubhouse. Hopefully, it will hold until spring.

I took a few quick shots, but was hoping to get better pics before the winter hit. Just didn't have much time to get to a good location with the right lighting. Once this snow all melts, I should be able to get down to the beach or mansions, etc. Here's one I took right after I put the wheels on. I have since lowered it some more with the Tein's.
Ripe911:
I hear you on the price of real estate these days. RI had the highest percent increase in the country last year. In some towns, prices jumped up 25%. Avg 2000 sq ft home is high 300's and over. That's why I'm still pissing my money away renting. I'm hoping this "frenzy" takes a backslide like it did in the 80's. Anyway, on your car, I think the most important thing is to keep the sun and fallout off it (bird droppings, etc) and your garage, albeit unsightly, seems to do that well enough.
