i have a 2000 mk2 gs300, had mot today and notice on the way there that i couldnt adjust my mirrors. didnt think to much of it at that point but when i got home noticed that i couldnt operate any of the other windows from the drivers door switch.
i then found that both front doors wouldnt look and the electric column on the steering wheel isnt moving back and forward. turnt the car off and started it back up then the dash would light up when running but would light on with just ignition on.
disconnected battery and left for 10 minutes reconnected and dash is working ok now but still not heater controls, mirror, windows or door locks. checked all interior fuses and engine bay fuses but all are ok.
wondering if anyone has had this fault before ? any help will be much appreciated.
You don’t have a location in your profile but if it’s been raining like it has in SoCal I’d start looking for moisture in the car. Peel back the carpet in the front footwells.
Test the battery and alternator. A failing alternator would have electrical systems start to go out as the battery gets weaker. Maybe it's just not charging anymore.
had the same problem 2 days ago, let the car sit till the weekend to work on it, go to start it and the battery is fully dead. jump my car and everything that wasnt functioning started working for a bit then all my driver side panel switches stop working again. So im thinking new battery will do it . My symptoms were driver side panel , folding mirrors, door locks, engine temp gauge not working. Also my gas light was blinking with a full tank, my cars ac stopped working, gear indicator wasnt showing, and also my steering wheel wouldnt tilt when putting key in or out.
This is almost certainly a blown fuse, there are 3 fuse boxes and I am pretty sure the fuse that controls the power windows and mirrors etc is in the passenger foot well, get down there with a test light and check them until you’re sure they are all working correctly. If you find a blown one that fixes the problem the hopefully replacing it will be the only solution you need, if you find it just keeps blowing the same fuse then check back and I will go over some diagnostic to find out what the culprit is
