Default Steering noises

Hello, I have a 98 gs400. When I turn, usually into a driveway or something when I turn the wheel it makes a noise idk how to explain it. U turn it slow and it makes a noise as the wheel turns. Anyone know what it is?

Check power steering fluid?

Might be ball joints...just had mine replaced after a similar issue with noise on turning.

Could you post a video of this occurring? It’s hard to point you in a direction without knowing exactly what is going on. It could be something in the steering shaft or something, could be bushings in the control arm or steering rack, could be sway bar end links. So a good video with the windows down or having someone recording where the sound is clear and can capture a good look at what the suspension is doing when it makes the noise. Anything you can do to complete the picture of what is happening, will make it easier to understand what the problem is.

Power steering fluid (ATF) is low.

Add more.

Check for leaks

Hi, mine does that too, but only when I'm stopped. I'll check it out when I get back to my car. I don't think mine is as loud as yours though but I do re-call having a similar problem and the sound does sound familiar to me lol.

mine does it when driving too. It’s not that loud in the video but it is noticeable when driving.

Have you watched your power steering fluid level over time, say a week? I'm guessing power steering leak, but I'll check if my power steering fluid leaks and if it doesn't and we have the same sound, seems like we should find what the cause is.
