Have had my 2002 GS300 for a year now and loving it. Slowly but surely restoring it to its former glory having bought it with 263,000kms (163,000 miles) on it.
Having a bit of trouble with my nav screen. Been operating trouble free since I got the car in August 2022 but recently it's giving me trouble. For some reason it won't accept or complete me pressing "I agree".
Anything like maps/navigation and the service menu etc it just gets to this screen and effectively freezes.
Put it into climate, audio etc and it's operates perfectly. It's just stuck on getting past the "I agree" phase to allow you through to those functions that need the safety notice.
Usual start up screen;
What happens when I press "I agree" (it just holds as if I'm still pressing it). Will not go past this point.
I've checked all fuses, checked full functionality of the screen (that part of the screen responds properly in the other modes like audio etc), battery voltage is fine, have removed/cleaned/reinserted all of the connectors to it and the module in the boot, have googled it and looked on this forum but can't seem to find a solution. I've even had the module in the boot checked by an electronics store to check for leaky capacitors and the like on the circuit board and they confirmed that it's all good with the CD drive working correctly (apparently a common fault).
Can anyone offer any help?
I agree it's an outdated system that realistically should be upgraded to a modern head unit, but I'm trying to keep this car as a bit of a 'time capsule' for how things were in 2002.
The touch screen may have failed. This is an old style optical (infrared) sensor system. LED strips of transmitters and receivers are hidden under a tinted plastic frame around the perimeter of the screen. If everything around them is clean, then proceed to replace the touch screen. You can find salvaged units / screens on eBay for parts.

If the problem is only present on the Map, Destination, Menu, and Information screens, it may be due to a problem with the navigation unit (or disc reading). Located in the trunk under the carpet. There is an alternative from GROM Audio to keep the original audio system with screen and buttons, but update the computer unit to a modern style. https://gromaudio.com/store/vline/le...n-upgrade.html
