Question Shrader valve on vacuum line

I n the course of doing a timing belt replacement (along with water pump, spark plugs, thermostat, valve cover gaskets and oil seals), I discover that the vacuum line running from the rear of the car to

Vacuum Valve - Lexus (90910-12243)

has a shrader valve inserted about 18" before the line connects to the vacuum valve. I am going to replace the vacuum line because it leaks like a sieve, but I'm wondering what's the purpose of the shrader valve. It doesn't look like it was originally part of the design.

I'm inclined to remove it.

Any thoughts?

Does it have a green cap?
This is the EVAP service port. Factory installed to diagnose vacuum leaks.

Yes it does. Thank you for the information. I'll incorporate it into the replacement line. I was guessing someone put it into the line so they could apply back pressure to the charcoal cannister.

Its for smoking the system to find leaks when they occur. It's not necessary though. I never smoke through them. I just remove the line from the purge valve and test back through that on every kind of car. Setting up for using the valve takes too much time. So up to you, leave it out for less clutter/clamps/potential leaks etc if you want.

Monday I went to Autozone and O'Reily looking for a replacement hose with the right I.D. and other suitable characteristics. Neither has anything comparable to what I took off so I went to the Lexus dealer and they didn't have any bulk tubing at all. Ended up buying the complete assembly for $61. If I had found the right tubing I could have made the repair for less than $5. Too bad, so sad. OTH, these emission control systems seem to be so finicky, maybe it's just as well.

Just got a call from the Lexus dealer, The part came in that was ordered and the parts guy can tell it's not the one that is needed. He does some digging around and tells me the assembly I need is $330. I'm back to trying to find acceptable tubing.

What exactly are you looking for? Can you circle the part on the diagram?

The orange arrow is pointing right at vacuum line including the shrader valve.

Did the dealer order part number 23820-46100?

If you need the evap port itself that's 77739-33010 it is not always shown in the diagram depends on the model. Toyota/Lexus parts diagrams are not the best TBH.

Just get rid of it. It's an unused test port. It's way easier to disconnect from the purge solenoid and test back through the line. I bet the dealer doesn't even use it. Definitely not something to be spending money on. I'd just run a vacuum line and be done with it.

I was able to pick up a fuel line with the correct dimensions and similar flexibility to a vacuum line. I plan to install it without the old shrader valve which I'll keep in case I ever have a need to put it in the line.

I don't know what part number was ordered. Some how or other the parts guy felt after he received it, it wouldn't work. I'm 75 miles away from the dealership so I took his word for it as opposed to driving 150 miles round trip to verify his opinion.
