Need help. I own a '05 Lexus GS430. Transmission blew the main seal on the input shaft, so I imported another transmission. Now, when I went to swap I tried getting the new one in, but was getting an inch and a half gap. So I was unable to bolt the trans to the engine. I looked at my stock TC and the TC on the importer tranny and the imported one has a stud on top of the hump in the middle of the TC, mine does not. I put my old TC on for the time being and it runs fine just has a whining noise on cold start ups. So I'm trying to buy a new one and every shop is selling the one with the stud on it. The stud looks like a bolt with a circle/round head. It looks like 2 different pieces of metal and it might come off but Idk how. I am going to go to the junkyard this weekend and see if I can find another TC like mine unless someone is knowledgeable to tell me wth is up with this TC? Guys at the lexus dealership just have me talk and explain what's wrong to 5 different guys, and know nothing. Transmission shops knows nothing. I seen on a post that a spacer and longer flex plate bolts but why doesnt my OEM one have this already?
Please help trying to fix this before it messes up my new transmission
And the replacement torque converter was specifically for the V8 and not a 6cylinder? Cause the transmissions are almost the same but the torque converter are engine specific, it seems like that could be something that the manufacturer added to prevent it from getting ran on the wrong engine?

Yes the TC is for the V8 430. I pulled a flywheel off one from the junkyard and bought the new torque converter today. I'll be doing this tomorrow morning as I have work tonight.
Ok I changed the TC. My original did have the stud, it just broke off in the output shaft of the crank. I got it out and installed the new TC with 8 quarts of toyota type IV fluid. Now its slipping 90% of the time with no noise. Before I had no slip just noise. Can someone shoot me some ideas please. I'm going to take it off tomorrow to see what's up.
So, right now with the new TC it slips standing still in all gears. If I shut off completley and turn back on it grabs a little, but just for a little bit.
Took the trans off again, put the old broken/stud one back on, and doing the same thing. Kind of. When I start it up itll go in all gears selected, for 1-2mins. Then it slips till it goes no further. Weird thing is, I turn it off and back on again and it catches for 1-2min and slips. I have a warranty o. The trans so I am going to get a replacement. Pretty sure this tranny is toast now.
Hopefully someone gets some type of needed info off this...
