Default Remote lock/unlock suddenly stop working.

Hi everyone,

I have a '99 GS300 RHD with a sudden remote problem : it stopped working.
- I already replaced the key battery -> it changed nothing,
- I tried to program it manually folling this topic -> the car didn't enter in programming mode,
- I tried to program it thru Techstream and 2.0.4 VCI -> when I pressed Lock & Unlock button it did noting.

I red dozens of topics about similar problems about the door locks and the actuators but mine seem to work correctly :
- All 4 doors lock & unlock either with the door barrel or the electric switch,
- None of the actuators work weakly, they lock & unlock doors strongly,
- Dome light switch on and off with all 4 doors,
- Techstream don't show any problem in the Body 1 ECU.

I began to look for new door lock actuators to swap them all, but I'm in France with a RHD car and I can't find anything about LHD actuators on RHD car. I don't even find a reference for the front ones whereas the rear ones no problem.

Can anyone tell me if I miss something ? Thanks a lot. (Sorry for my English, it's not my main language)

Do you have another key with the remote PB's? Hopefully it's just as simple as your key went bad. My situation is that my remote has to be right next to the car to work. And like you, I too just installed a new battery so I am trying to do some research on this subject. I just don't know where the remote sensor is located in the car that detects the signal from the key yet. I'm thinking it is under the dash in the worst possible location. Thanks.

Hi, no I don't have an other remote, I just bought a simple key with a chip to start the car in case of loosing the main one.
The receiver for the remote is located in the rear right C pillar, mine is a 433MHz (Euro car, see attached picture). I cracked it open but nothing seemed to be blown up.
Maybe I'll try to buy another remote, but finding a 433MHz one, which work with this car is quite complicated.

Apparently, there is a "Wireless Door Lock ECU" that handles this function and if my research is correct, it is located under the dash on the passengers side by the airbag. When I get home, I will look at my manuals now that I have an idea as to what I am looking for.

WOW. Lexus really wants to kill off our cars. The P/N for the 2nd Gen US Mdl uses P/N 89741-30201 for the Keyless entry ECU is DISCONTINUED! No P/N listed to replace it. Well that sucks!

The "Wireless Door Lock ECU" is the one I show you which located in the right C pillar, yours must be different if you are in the USA because it must be a 315MHz. I think the ECU you describe is the "Body ECU 1". It's located in the left A pillar (passenger side for me, RHD car).

Can you tell me what the number is under the word TOYOTA? It's just a little small to read. Thanks.

Ours cars are old now ! For sure it's discontinued. But you can find used one on eBay. The last brand new pieces a bought for the car was a headlight washer cover, it came directly from Japan from an old stock I didn't find it anywhere else.

Yep mine is 89741-30190, but pay attention, they both not work on the same frequency.

It looks like there are at least four of those modules on ebay from three different vendors in Germany. Maybe you can go that route.

Yeah I found 2 from Luxembourg and 1 from Lettonie and there's plenty of them also in Russia. But I'm not sure that this module died, that sound quite bizarre. I'll don't buy it for the moment. Yours seems to be specific to Canada isn't it ?

I looked at my service manual this AM for my 03 GS430 and saw that there is an additional module called the Key Transponder Amplifier module. You might want to look it up and see if it is anything that fits the symptoms.

Yep this module read the transponder of the key (not the remote) for the immobilizer system. The remote doesn't deal with it, just the chip in the key to let you start.
Last night I bought 5 actuator motors (I took one as spare), they will arrive at the end of the month. I'll begin to replace them all even if mine seem to work well, but it's written everywhere that they can be the problem.

OH man what a PITB. I could just never believe they could all go out at once. Plus they work using the switch inside the car. But keep us informed. Thanks.
