Alternator/Battery - Dashboard Combination Meaning?
Hi All,
Have a '94 GS300,
Been having battery problems, battery is ok though, its fairly new. Alternator is a bit past it, its never been changed since new, so have taken it off and brushes were worn down to nothing! So have replaced them.. Put alternator back on, but now getting strange combination of lights on the dash, it is as follows:
Low Engine Oil (Yellow with waves under it)
Battery Issue Light
Bulb Out Light, yet no bulbs are out,
( ! ) Brake Warning Light
Do particular combinations have any meanings, like some type of diagnostics?
Or could something be shorting? I am going to check tomorrow that the plugs are on alternator properly when I have refitted it, but it is still not charging the battery too well, there is massive drain when headlights on, but holds voltage at around 11.75 with lights off,
When driving, very occasionally ALL the above dashboard lights go off all at once for maybe a second or two before coming back on, this must be a clue, Where could I check first?
With regards to the alternator issue.. All I can think it to swap the alternator for new, or try changing the regulator or rectifier, any advice would be welcome on this, plus anywhere cheaper than £140 for a new alternator, that would be a bonus,
Best regards,
Alan
