Got an estimate from a local Japanese Auto Shop for $400 for a 120,000 service. They are going the change the cap, rotor, plugs, and a few little things. What do you guys think? Any suggestions? I'll probably pay, because I do not feel like screwing with the plugs myself.
You should get the timing belt done too.....If you lived near me i could get all of that done for you with the timing belt for around $200-$250 in labor.
Ask one of the mechanics if they do work on the side either at that shop or at the dealership. But be discreet.
That seems like a good price to me. Doing the plugs in our car is a pain in the ***.
If you did do it yourself, though, you could clean the throttle body and the intake manifold. But it's not that big a deal. Maybe if you ask them they will do that, too. I mention it because in my car it was pretty nasty in there but as you all know I do mostly short trips.
Yeah, has your timing belt been replaced? Probably has by now. For some reason the dealer replaced the timing belt in my car between 30-40k when my dad had it. Who knows why. Man that dealership is weird.
Are you getting the irudidium plugs or whatever the heck they are, or the OEM platinum ones? I didn't have my table of the elements chart with me when I bought my plugs so I just got the OEM.

I know you don't feel like changing the plugs yourself, but you can save yourself $400 and gain some experience by doing it yourself. I've changed my plugs numerous times and now I'm able to do it in half an hour to forty-five minutes. Maybe you can cut out some of the price by changing the cap and rotor yourself, it is much easier than changing your plugs. All it requires is a philips-head screwdriver and 10-15 minutes.
Since you are having a shop do the plugs, make sure you get OEM plugs because I heard on this forum that anything less will cause poor performance in the engine.
I think you should also change your PCV valve and the fuel filter. The PCV is really easy to change, just pop out the old one and pop in the new one. You should let the mechanic change the fuel filter because it is a mess to do if you have not done it before.
Eric, I know you're trying to help me, and I'm all for that kinda do it yourself stuff, I used to do all that stuff on my Mustang and it was cool, but now I live in a kinda upscale neighborhood, so I can' t just do auto work in the parking lot. Even if I were at my parent's house I would attempt it, but not there. Thanks for the suggestions though, I will try to get the shop to do it for free. However, I do wish we had some members near me and maybe they would help me through it.
