Default long trip + snow

since this is my last week before winter session class starts i'm going to taking 2 pretty long trips in this week with my girl. first trip is going to be about 2-3 hours each way and its going to be going up to big bear lake/mountain. there is suppose to be snow up there, never driven in the snow before. so was wondering how this car handles.??

my 2nd trip is for my b-day. its gonna be to la jolla beach. its about 2 hours each way. anything i should do before i go?? never took 2 long trips within 3 days before.

i didn't get any calls from you man. i've been partying for new years and stuff. haven't even played with my car. my b-day isn't till the 5th. but me and my girl taking 2 trips. should be fun. 2nd time in my life i will ever be seeing snow so i'm pretty excited. i'm try some drifting in the mountains in the snow. hopefully i don't fall off the cliff. lol.

i think you sould just keep your brabus man. i freakin love those rims. only way i would change rims is unless you find a wider rim like 9-10 inches in the back and like 8.5 up front. with a big lip on the back. other than that, just keep your rims man. can't wait to see your car.

oh btw. did you ever order the raammat??

happy new year and happy birthday to you bro.

since i live in a northern climat e and so used to snow in the winter i suggest bringing some emergency stuff on your trip such as blanket's; candles; matches; empty can and flares. once i drove my car through the winter season on all seaon tires and never ran into any problems - the traction control and abs were a definite plus for winter driving.

good luck!

Thanks gees

i'm not even bringing a spare tire or a jack. lol. my trunk is still completly empty because i'm STILL Raammating and measuring and working on my subs. so just hope i don't get a flat or anything. i did bring my wheel lock though. so if i do get a flat maybe a fellow lexus owner will let me borrow or buy there spare. lol

Jmai.. Here's a tip from a snow eater in Michigan.... you would do well to throw a 80-90 pound sack of rock salt or sand in the trunk. Place it as far toward the front of the car as possible. There... a quick way to lower your car without the new springs.

talking about long trips i'll be making one of those this weekend too......its a little longer than yours though...try 20 hours and 1589 miles from Providence, RI to Ruston, LA . I have class monday so im leaving saturday morning....It's supposed to be an ugly one saturday so I hope i dont get caught in the bad weather...car should be ready...recently replaced Oil, brake pads, brake rotors, Alternator, battery,Wipers, washer fluid, drive belt, and got it aligned and balanced today....should be no probs.....wish me luck....second time I make this trip...first time I drove straight for 19 hours it ain't worth it though, you feel like **** for like ten days after......by the way 1589 miles in 19 hours is an average of about 84mph....thats not including gas and food stops!

whoa... just got back from my day trip. overall had a great drive besides my buttocks being numb after 2 hours. so i highly suggest bringing a pillow for your bottom.

well got up to the top of the mountain with no snow falling but plenty of snow on the floor. one tip. don't ever let the car stop moving. once that car stop moving your STUCK. i got stuck 2 times today going up a street with no cars. first time i was going 15 mph then decided to stop to see if the snow was soft to take some pictures and play with my girl. well, car got stuck and wheels kept on spinning with no movement at all. the car actually started rolling backwards the the wheels spinning. so i had to back up all the way to the bottom of the hill and drive back up with speed.

man our car sucks in the snow.

Jmai22....thats funny $hit....It happened to me too...just that I was actually in traffic at a redlight in a medium steep hill, in fresh snow and my car just wouldn't go anywhere...I had people in back and front of me. Luckily I was able to edge over the hill still embarrasing ****...GS def is not a winter vehicle...even with traction control....DOES ANYONE NOTICE A DIFF WHEN ITS ON OR OFF.......I DON'T! still reacts the same

actually with my 95' and traction control and fairly new michelin all season tires i never had any problems. and i didn't even carry additional weight in the trunk for traction either...must be my andretti driving skills...lol

anyway glad you guys came through okay.
jmai post some pic's of your trip!

geees.

its funny because my car looks like a rally car right now. i have NO spare tire in the trunk and no tools. not even my subwoofer box. so when you look into my trunk its just bare metal. lol. so the back of my car was really light. one of the time i got stuck, i wasn't even moving but my speedometer said i was going 40 mph. lol

You might wanna put something heavy in the trunk to press down the rear axle for increased traction. If I don't add 60-100 lbs ino the trunk every time there is snow on the ground, my rear is all over the place.

Also, keep your gas tank full for added weight.
