My light came on and it turned out to be the O2 sensor. There could be so many reasons. Take it in for service !!!

Do you have an autozone where you live? They will plug in the analyzer and read the codes for free. Most likely one of the O2 sensors. You got 3 of them and they aint cheap.

Yep, no chit man. Matter of fact, I’ve got to stop by there to have them check the alternator in my Honda. Good luck!

well, if autozone can't help me out, i'll just do the hard way.
count the flashes of "engine" light on dash while using a wire to bypass that DLC1 or DLCII on our cars, then figure out the code...

tks....

Two simple things to try before opting to more time consuming/costly solutions:
1. Disconnect the positive battery cable for about half hour, then reconnect(this will reset the cars computer).

2. Make sure your gas cap is screwed on tightly.

True Story!!

Many moons ago when the Sunfire first came out a buddy of mine bought one. It was a limited edition four door and what not. So anyway, he tells me that he was driving the car when all of a sudden the "CHECK ENGINE" light comes on. So he pulls over, shuts the car off, pops the hood and gets out of the car. He lifts the hood, looks around the engine bay and see that everything looks normal so he closes the hood, gets back in the car and starts it up. NO MORE LIGHT!! So he figures ok i checked the engine and everything looks fine. When he told me about it i started cracking up in his face. He actually thought that the CHECK ENGINE light just meant to look over the engine. I was making him feel like a dork for that one for the longest.

i'm just glad the BRAKE light didn't come on.......he might have slammed his brakes some people don't deserve cars
