Default HELP! AC = no power steering and low voltage

OK so today i was sitting in traffic on my way home from the beach and i suddenly lost power steering. so i pulled over to see what the problem was. I noticed that on my dash the low voltage light came up and that AC light was blinking. When i turn off the AC the low voltage light turns off and my power steering comes back like nothing happened. Anyone else have this problem? Is it the AC compressor or is it The pully or belt? i need some help its going to be over 100 degrees for like the rest of the week!!

I started my car to go up to 7-11 and the belt started squeeling, just some extra info.

Thanks for the help

i would check the belts right away. check the simple things first since the belt makes everything work in conjunction with one another. maybe its a corroded belt and it dried out.

To me, it sounds like the AC clutch is creating excessive drag so this in turn will slow the RPM of the driven accessories. Lower PS pump pressure, alternator charging...etc. The squealing of the belt is the crank pulley is trying to turn it and it is slipping.

Ok So same exact problem as above but prior to coming here I have done the following over the last 3 weeks to try to fix it:
> Replaced the belts
>Replaced the alternator
>Replaced the AC compressor
(All done with the supervision of my father in-law who was a mechanic for 30 years)

Additional detail - this all started after hitting a big puddle doing about 40MPH - which made the power steering/ac light issue begin - prior to the puddle there was a notable squeal when AC was engaged - post puddle the squeal intensified and also the ac power steering issue occurs every time now.

Please help - this $3500 dollar car is quickly become a $5000 project

Belts? 2JZ only came with One Serpentine Belt, are you sure you have a 1st-gen GS300?
Which Brands did you use for the replacement of all that stuff?

Squeal as in some Pulley having a bad bearing, or as in Doug DeMuro Kia Sentra review?

Sounds like the Belt is either not Tight Enough, or one of the Pulleys is damaged, causing the Belt to Slip under heavy load. Seeing that GS300 comes with a Spring Loaded Tensioner, those can get worn out and not provide needed Tension, see how far you can Twist the belt, you shouldn't be able to twist it past about 45 degrees, if you can, it's not tight enough.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

It is the main pulley on the crankshaft.
This pulley has a damper function. This is broken, so the outer ring, where the belt is running, is slipping.
I had the same on my GS.

Huh, I suspected that there may be something like that happening, but.. I've seen them get warped and create Vibration or Belt Squeak, never seen a Balancer actually come apart like that though, must be from all the Oil Exposure over the years, or could be a Manufacturing Defect on those. I wonder if a Balancer off of a 2nd-gen GS would solve this issue..?

Either way, thanks for sharing!

Hi, i never saw that before, but in Germany, the number of sold GS300 1Gen and 2Gen is rather low.

According to the parts list on amayama, it is the same parts number for 1Gen and 2Gen, 13407-46020

At this point I am really starting to wonder who has more of those still driving around, cars don't tend to last this long out here..

Huh, seems like this issue wasn't that common after all, if they decided to not address it in any way..

In Germany, at January 2024, only 35 Lexus GS300 JZS147 are registered, 49 Million cars are registered altogether...

Yes, take good care...
Both rear wishbones are defective and one of left front cross members or wishbone is making noises...
