Hi Guys,
I need help with a few things. I have finally got around to my GS300 rebuild. I need help with a few things. If anyone has exprience with any of these isues please let me know. Thanks guys..

1. when I hit the brakes hard of soft. The front drivers wheel shifts backwards making a loud clunk.

2. My brake light is on but I do not have any lights out in the rear of the car.

3. My drivers seat does not move but I can hear the motor turning or at least trying to move

4. Sunroof moving really slow and sometimes not at all.

5. My rack and pinion is leaking should I just go with a used rack or remaned?

6. Do the ecu determine the mileage that is displayed on the odometer?

7. Is there a company that can rebuild the cluster?

Q6- no Ecu does not. its in the cluster itself. I changed out my cluster and it read the miles of the previous car.

Q1 = possible lower ball joint is loose, check for free play
Q2 = try checking all your brake light bulbs, i mean all of them. check the bulbs filaments arent broken by flicking the bulbs with your finger. sometimes they might look ok but the integrity of the filament gets burn, causing a short thus the brake light on the dash coming on.
Q4 = possible your sunroof motor is getting weak. when operated the motor gets hot and causing it to get stuck. and when you wait for a couple of mins it will start moving again

Check your control arms and ball joints. Suspension issue, without a doubt.

2. My brake light is on but I do not have any lights out in the rear of the car.
Check all your lights, brake lights, parking lights, LED brake light, etc. Also check that the bulbs are all properly fit. If all those things aren't a problem, it might be the harness, a bad ground, could be a bunch of things.

There are a couple threads on this; not quite a common problem, but it happens, and I had the same problem too. There is a little plastic gear that gets stripped over time and needs to get replaced. There's a DIY in this forum. Just search "front seat movement" or something like that.

4. Sunroof moving really slow and sometimes not at all.
Sunroof motor dying? My guess.

5. My rack and pinion is leaking should I just go with a used rack or remaned?
No idea about this, sorry.

6. Do the ecu determine the mileage that is displayed on the odometer?
Negative ghostrider

7. Is there a company that can rebuild the cluster?

Yes there is. Lextech. They are a vendor on here. send a PM to 'O.L.T' about it. They rebuild the needles that flicker out and die, you can redo the dash lighting to LEDs or other things.

This forum has lots of good info in it. Hope this helps

I would advise against buying a used power steering rack. I am in the same boat as you and I am going to buy a remanufactured rack. I don't have any confidence that a used rack will last very long.

For the cluster, LexTech did a nice job on mine. I got the 16 white backlight and would probably do the 32 if I had to do it over. They only do blood red needles for the 1GS, but they look great.

I think the others did a good job addressing your other questions. I don't have a clue on the sunroof because my car is one of the rare, optioned down models with no sunroof.
