I changed my trans a few months ago, and I stupidly didn't mark the bolts and the spots on the rubber dampner so that I knew which bolts came from which side or hole.
Anyways I took it down completely but didn't seprate it meaning i took it down as one peice....
I need to know the direction of the rubber dampners, and if the bolts are diffrent weights and the way they go in (head frist or nut first)
Basically I got a vibration at 80KM+ and it goes a way again at 150KM.
It's driving me nuts and it only started after the trans was changed.....
the only this i can imagine in fixing it is to start switching the bolt holes on the dampner. i think theres only 4 right? and see if the vibration disappear.
I've taken the DS on and off my car at least 7-8 times now. I never marked it nor re-lined it once I put it back on the car. I just bolted it in however it will fit. I've never had a vibration problem. The factory DS is a 2 piece and I think is balanced separately. I don't think you should have any vibration issues. Have you ruled out the transmission? Possibly the flex plate bolts or toruqe converter bolts are loose and the TC is wobbling around? Just a though. Try to rev up in neural slowly to 3-4k rpm and see if you get any wobbling. IF so...then that's your problem right there. Yes, I know my car is a 2GS but the 1GS drivetrain, engine, transmission, driveshaft, and rear diff design is very very close to the 2GS.
Zazzn, check your alignment; if you have a bent torsion bar or lower control arm this will cause vibration... did you curbed the vehicle recently, lend it to a friend, or lend it to your wife or GF to go get something from the store? This could be apossiblilty. If the tranny doesn't vibrate while reving it then take into consideration your suspension... blown struts or suspension damage... just my 2 cents... good luck.
