funky air
ok guuys i picked yet another!! first gen..i got a third so i could have a canidate for SPracings sequential twin turbo kit ..but anyway the thing is when i turn the air on or heat or anything ..mannnnn tha **** reaks really really bad ...im thinkin its mildew because i checked the space for a cabin filter and of course there wasnt one ...but the leaves that were in there were damp and so was the surface inside ..and when i smelled my hand it had that same flippin smell..any suggestion on solving this problem
lol I just had to laugh when I read your post.
First and foremost...clean out as much of that garbage out as you can. Get a rag and jam your hand up into the filter area. Wipe it around as best as you can. Clean out all the leaves and crap or whatever is in there. Afterwards, drive with the heater at full temp and and full blast. Just crack the windows open if you get too hot. Basically you're evaporating the water and killing the bacteria with the heat. Do that for a few days to see if the problem goes away. That's how I got rid of the gross air smell on my last car. I've also recommended this to a few friends and it's worked out as well.
Just make sure there isn't a dead rat/bird/squirrel/rabbit/etc or something in your air vents. No amount of hot air will get that smell out until you actually remove the carcass lol

Ok, your car will smell during the winter months when you use AC because it is not used enough. Just make sure anytime you use AC, and 5-10 minutes before your destination hit the AC button so the light goes off. This will blow just regular air through your vents which will remove any condensation that was built up while AC is on.
