I bought a new cabin air filter from Lexus about 2 yrs. ago. They are deoderized and should smell good. Ive noticed this year my outside air and inside air smells bad, and Ive spayed Ozium spray in the windsheild wiper area with the blower running on outside air.

 

2 years is plenty of time for mold and mildew to take over a cabin air filter....have you pulled it back out to look at it?

 

It seems like it was weird looking when I put it in.

You passed the life of the a/c filter. Its either 15,000 miles or 1 year ,but that also depends if you smoke, have a dirty car,parked under a tree. Change the filter some of the older model ES's say to blow the filter out don't replace cause it will keep smell .

 

Do not smoke, or park under a tree, no dirt areas. As I remember the filter material was a dark color, making it hard to tell how dirty it is. I also do not remember smelling much of a deoderized smell in the air like I expected for the price of the filter from Lexus. I know some people leave them out, but I thought I was doing the right thing when I got the new one.
