Default Keyless Entry Questions

hello everyone
sadly, during the harsh winter months, i dropped my key in a parking lot and lost it for a few days. the janitor eventually found the key, but of course the lock, unlock doesnt work, its scratched badly, and the gold emblems on each side are gone i know that finding a replacement key is very expensive so i was thinking about putting in just an aftermarket keyless unlock/lock. i dont know whether one can be configured to my existing one. would it be hard to have one done? how much do you think this would cost?

thanks again for all the help.

buddy of mine is mecp certified and has been installing alarms for years! i asked him the same thing and he told me that you wouldn't be able to do it! if it was it would be a good amount of mula and probably not worth it. it's probably best just to purchase an aftermarket one!

Cool

You could check EBay for a replacement transmitter, however, youd need to replace the ROM as well, good luck on finding one of those to go with the transmitter. If you could find someone parting one out, you could get the keys and the ROM. Or maybe check some salvage yards? A new alarm will be expensive, however now you can get remote start or other options. Go with DEI products(clifford, viper, sidewinder, hornet) and a good quality installation.

Nope, leave it in! Depends on what you want, you have an alarm as well as keyless entry. Probably get some thing basic but good for around $300 with install.

$300 sounds about right (installed), DEI products are good for the money and basically all the same so try to go cheaper, depending on what extras you get. For remote start, i don't think you need an extra key installed!?! well depending on what year you have!

What model do you have? Can you still read the FCC # on the back of the key?

Email me. I may be able to help you out with a new remote key.

Take care,
