Unhappy My GS is missing!

whats up guys, I am having a problem with the car. I recently cleaned the engine bay out and got it all shined up, unfortunately I got water towards the back/topside of the motor where the rear spark plugs are. Water managed to fill up the chamber where the plugs go in. I got all the water out thoroughly and the car is still missing. The car hesitates pretty bad. What do you guys recommend. I was going to replace the rear plugs and see if that remedies it. Lemme know..
Thanks in advance!

I have done this cleaning my MR2 engine... not fun.

You can sop-up the water using some paper towels and a rag (jam it down in there with a screwdriver) or suck the water out with a wet/dry vacuum.
If there is ANY oil, fuel, or flammable liquid present, DO NOT use a wet/dry vac!!

LOL....thanks for quick post guys, I was worried like you wouldn't believe! I tried the towel and screwdriver method already, and got all of it out. Do you think that the plugs could be damaged? Would it be wise to just replace them anyways? Did your method clear up the problem?

Did you drive the car while it was all f'd up?

Cool

THAT SUCKS! I did this as well when I first got my car. I had to unbolt the intake and TB and unscrew the center 2 plastic covers. Then blow it out with compressed air! NEVER AGAIN! I tried to drive the car before I figured out what the problem was, it would barely run as the plug wires were shorting to ground through the water and the cats got red hot , i ended up having to replace the main cat after that.

I had this happen
go buy some gas line antifreeze ISO Heat or Kristys dry gas, it's pure alchol
take out the plugs, then pour that in there, it will evaporate and take the water with it.
after you finish and the car is running, and you cleaned the plugs, go and get an intake servicing done, it's going to be all carboned up from the missing throwing all the gas around

Make sure you also dry out your sparkplug boot too, that's probably got some moisture in it also. It's prettty deep inside boot, so you should take the wire out of the engine and then dry it with a blow dryer or in the sun.

Thanks guys, I pulled the two rear plugs and very rear one (when I pulled it out) was dripping with water. I stuck a towel down in there with a screwdriver and cleaned it up a little. I may need to do what turbogs300 and eric-gs300- said.

Eric-GS300-:

Where did you buy the gas line antifreeze and dry gas?

Thanks for all the pointers guys, I hope to have this car running by the end of the weekend.

Please keep the suggestions coming. I need all the help I can get.

well it gets cold where I am in the winter, but it's available all year at Wally World (Wal Mart) or any auto parts store.

Default Vaccum lines

Make sure you didn't knock off any vaccum lines. Check all your hoses to make sure they are all connected. Sometimes you can knock off a lines without even knowing it. Although your spark plugs are probably the cause, I would check the hoses too.

It's been a few days now, is your car running fine or does it still miss?

It is still missing bad. The car hesitates pretty bad when I drive it. This is what I've done so far:

1.) pulled all spark plugs and poured automotive alchohol in there. Then blew out the area with a compressor. Not sucessful. When the car is really cold, it is okay. But when it warms up at all, it starts missing.

2.) pulled plugs back out, cranked it a couple times to see if I can force anything thats in there out. Not sucessful at all.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do. I think I'm gonna put the car back together today and take it in to my buddys shop. I appreciate everyones advice...thanks!

If there are anymore ideas out there, please post up.

Same thing happened to me - but I took it to a shop since I needed to have the valve cover gaskets replaced anyway. I had the two cylinders closest to the firewall blown out and cleaned by the shop - I got all new spark plugs even though the ones I had were only like at 10k, and shortly after the repair I replaced the plug wires. I didn't want to take any chances.

Oh make sure they replace the TB gasket when they put the car back together for the last time. (or if you do it yourself) Don't want to risk any air leaks.
