Unhappy POwer

Sup guys I recently got my gs and I was wonder whats the best way to get some power out of it other then and intake and exhaust job. My friend recommended an engine swap with a 1jz, seems cost effective but too drastic for me I want to hang on to my engine for while. Let me know you guys think?

Why a 1jz? just curious. What kind of "power" are you looking for? Set a goal and go from there. i did a 2jzgte swap and couldn't be happier. With a Blitz boost jumper usdm turbos, 550cc injectors, intake, and exhaust i made 373hp on 93 octane. i ahve more planned for the future but just with the stock motor i made that. Just some input on one route you could go.

Yea I dont want to do anything drastic like and engine swap otherwise 2jzgte all the way even though its lot cheaper to go with a 1jzgte, which is why my friend reccomended that.

1jz might be cheaper from the beginning but remember the 1jz is jdm and never offered in the usdm. Where are you going to get parts for it if/when it breaks down? I would suggest a bolt on turbine kit with low boost. Should be able to see a nice increase in hp with that. But depending on how much hp your looking for you may need a new tranny or some tranny work as well.

Well, since you ruled out a motor swap because it's too drastic and want to know what else to do aside from intake/exhaust mods, the only other things left to do is nitrous or a bolt-on turbo kit. Not much else

With getting parts aside....it is alot harder to make power with the 1jz. If you are not going for reasonably high numbers 1jz would be fine. 1jz parts aren't too extremely hard to find depending on how long u can go with your car down. If this is your daily driver, 2jzgte parts are much easier to find. I have several friends that have 1jz's in their MKIII's so i have seen what can be done in person.

Thanks for the reply guys, I found out that moding 2jzge will only push about 200whp max without bolt on turbo or nitrous. They dont make bigger cams for this engine I guess.

Call around to places if you haven't. I am thinking the internals of a 2jzge and a gte are the same.
