Default Jmai22 - Clearning Tailight Blinkers?

Hi Jmai,

I remember you did this mod a long time ago. I was wondering if you could fill me in on the procedures to do the same mod.

I get kinda nervous when it comes to taking stuff apart. Hope you, or someone here can help.

Thanks!

removed the orange out of my rear tail.Put led blinkers in.The led clusters are the once you see on trailers.
oval shape.Looks sweet.but I think I will change it to red.Have the aristo tail lights.but I had to buy a electronic flasher.I can make them blink fast & slow. The oem blinker whouldn't make them blink.

Thumbs up thanks for the great write up!!

Now I have to clear my tail lights..I wanted to know if you used a heat gun to heat up the light??Could I just stick the tail light in the oven for 5-10 min once pre heated at 325??Or is it easier to use the heat gun???

Question

How long did you heat them up?? Did you just heat them and check them with the screw driver to see when the silicone was soft enough??I want to try this next week...

Thanks for all the links and info guys. I'll try it on my extra set of lights this weekend.

From what I've read:

1. pre-heat oven 350-400, turn off.
2. Put lights in (be sure to sit them on some sort of pan and not onto the bare and hot metal)
3. let sit for 15-17 minutes
4. take out (careful, hot) and begin prying apart (flat side first) using a butter knife.

Hopefully the mod will go smoothly for those who are trying it.

Peace.

Dang, I haven't had time to try them yet. I hope to do it soon. Thanks for your help over the phone today. Good to chat with you again.

Definitely need to have a 1st gen mini-meet sometime soon. Hopefully I can mod the taillights by then...and we can check out the LED mod.
